Aftercage Festival: Space, Sound, Movement
World premiere
Performance meeting for koto, guitar, electronics and dance. The ensemble Nomad from Tokyo, formed by Norio Sato (guitar) and Kimura Maya (koto), presents several works premiered in Spain that offer a re-reading of the world through a traditional Japanese instrument.

At the initiative of the composers José Manuel López-López and Juanjo Eslava, as well as the Japanese guitarist and conductor Norio Sato, this proposal was created by the Nomad ensemble of Tokyo.
Space, sound, movement: a reading from the mestizaje' presents several premiere works in Spain and offers, with a creative and mestizo dynamic, a re-reading of the world through a traditional Japanese instrument.
The performance at the museum has a special dimension as it plays with the exhibition space. The guitar, koto and electronic recital, accompanied by dance, will take place not only in the auditorium, but also in the spaces in the rooms of the collection.

Norio Sato, guitar
Born in Jilin (China) in 1951, he studied with Yasumasa Obara and won the First Prize at the Tokyo International Guitar Competition in 1971. He is considered one of the most relevant artists in Japan today. He has performed in international festivals in Mexico, Germany, Belgium, Italy, France, United Kingdom, China, Australia, United States, Venezuela, Denmark, Finland, Estonia...
In 1997, he founded Ensemble Nomad with the aim of addressing the repertoire for contemporary and 20th century instrumental ensemble. This ensemble is internationally recognized.
Kimura Maya, koto
Maya Kimura was born in Hokkaido. She began her koto studies with Harumi Hashimoto at the age of three, and since childhood has received numerous awards, including First Prize at the National Koto Music Festival.
After obtaining her Bachelor's Degree in Music at the Toho Gakuen School of Music and Drama in Tokyo, she continued her advanced studies there as a special student under the supervision of Keiko Nosaka and Michiko Takita.
He has performed on international stages in Berlin, Czech Republic, Hungary, Vladivostok, Mexico and China, among others.
He has received the Hokkaido Shinbun Press Award, the Superintendence of Education Incentive Award and the Betsukai-cho Culture Award.

Iñaki Fortún, dancer Choreographer, artistic director and dancer of the Navarra dance company Fueradeleje. In addition to this work, he plays a relevant role in teaching and in bringing audiences closer to contemporary language. |

Juanjo Eslava, composer He studied composition at the Paris Conservatory of Music with Emmanuel Nunes, Gérard Grisey, Michael Lévinas, Luis Naon and others. He furthered his training at the IRCAM (Cursus de Composition et Informatique Musicale), Centre Acanthes, Royaumont-Voix Nouvelles... Regional prize of the International Computer Music Conference 2008 and finalist in the international festival Transitio (Mexico), his music has been programmed in international festivals such as ICMC, Time-of-Music, World Saxophone Congress, Seoul Computer Music Festival, and relevant venues such as Tokyo Opera City, Kunitachi College of Music, Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Cervantes Institute... He has received commissions from the André Malraux Cultural Center, the guitarist Norio Sato, BBVA Foundation, Fundación Autor/AEOS, CNDM, Plural Ensemble, ORCAM, Quincena Musical, Sigma Project... Currently his activity is focused on various projects of artistic creation and research, teaching (Composition and Orchestration at the Conservatorio Superior de Aragón, Electroacoustic Composition at the Conservatorio Superior de Navarra) and the organization of the After Cage Festival, as a member of the artistic collective E7.2. |
