The University, finalist in the New European Bauhaus Awards with four projects

The University of Navarra is a finalist in the last phase of the New European Bauhaus Awards with four projects, whose deliberation will be held on September 16 in Brussels. 

The academic center presented the four proposals in the existing group of projects: Campus (category "reinvented spaces to meet and share") the Bachelor's Degree in Design, the Master's Degree in Design and Environmental Management of Buildings (both in the "interdisciplinary educational models" category), and the Museo Universidad de Navarra (category "cultural heritage preserved and transformed").

In the words of Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, the New European Bauhaus initiative is "a project of hope (...) that will help us face the greatest challenge we face: climate change (...) a plan to define how we want to live together after the pandemic".

To shape it, the European Commission launched a preliminary phase in the form of a call for the New European Bauhaus Award, in which institutions and young people were invited to present their challenges and solutions in order to learn about the state of the art and the initiatives already underway.

The New Bauhaus Europe awards were announced in 10 categories with two different sections, one for existing examples or projects already completed and one for rising stars, concepts or ideas submitted by young talents up to 30 years of age. More than 2,000 initiatives were submitted in total.

The projects were voted on by the more than 20,000 subscribers to the project's newsletter. Following this vote, a committee of experts selected three projects from each category and group. From the 30 finalist projects, the winners in each category will receive a prize of 30,000 euros for ongoing or completed initiatives and 15,000 euros for emerging stars, and in both cases a communication package.

Projects aligned with the University's Strategy 2025

The winning project in each category will be announced at the final awards ceremony on the 16th, between 17:00 and 18:30, in Brussels. The ceremony, which can be followed live at https://prizes.new-european-bauhaus.eu/, will be attended by Pilar Lostao, Vice Chancellor for International Relations at the University of Navarra; Carlos Naya, Director of the University's School of Architecture; Cristina Muñoz Corsini, Director of Campus Planning and Design; and Guillermo García del Barrio, Director of Education at Innovation Factory.

The initiatives presented are aligned with the work axes of the University of Navarra. The New European Bauhaus project contributes to highlighting the lines established within the University's Strategy 2025 plan, which seeks to contribute to the resolution of the challenges posed by society through its research, teaching and care work, in collaboration with other people and institutions. Sustainable development and care for people and the environment are the reference for the orientation of its projects. 

The University is part of the group promoted by the Government of Navarra within the framework of the New European Bauhaus and the Green Pact. The group, coordinated by NASUVINSA, seeks to position the Community within this important axis of development marked by Europe.
