The artist will speak with the curator, Valentín Vallhonrat, about the audiovisual exhibition based on his work “NATURA FUGIT.”
The exhibition invites reflection on the effects that climate change—which the artist believes is primarily caused by human activity—has on the landscape.
Using a specific location—the Mer de Glace glacier in Chamonix, in the Alps—as the focus of his analysis, Lazkano examines the retreat of the glacier in this area through pastel drawings he creates of the site.
Using a stop-motion technique, he layers new drawings over the existing ones, taking a photograph of every small change he makes. By playing these images one after another, he creates a 22-minute film that clearly reveals the effects of climate change on the landscape.
