Meeting with Antonio Najarro. The look of Spanish dance
On the occasion of the presence of the National Ballet of Spain at the Museum, the dancer and choreographer Antonio Najarro, Director of the National Ballet of Spain, will meet with the public and students to share his life and professional experience and offer his vision of Spanish Dance today.

(Madrid, 1975) Antonio Najarro, dancer and choreographer, trained by the most prestigious dance teachers in all styles and graduated with honors in Spanish Dance at the Royal Professional Dance Conservatory of Madrid, was appointed director of the BNE in 2011. He began his professional career at the age of 15 as a member of the most renowned Spanish dance companies. He joined the Ballet Nacional de España (BNE) in 1997 and three years later he was promoted to the category of Principal Dancer with Aída Gómez as artistic director of the company. His creative vocation soon led him to choreograph, participating in several editions of the Certamen Coreográfico de Danza Española y Flamenco de Madrid and obtaining with Nereidas (1999) the first prize for best choreography in the VIII edition of the same contest and later included in the repertoire of the BNE. He created his own Antonio Najarro Company in 2002, for which he has choreographed four productions. He is also a regular creator of pieces for great figures of figure skating on ice, the latest example of this has been the Malagueña that he choreographed for the Spanish Javier Fernandez, gold medalist at the World Championships in Boston (2016). Recently, he has been awarded the Zapatilla de Plata (2016) by Indanza for his career and dedication in spreading Spanish Dance and the Premio de Cultura 2013 de la Comunidad de Madrid, Danza modality. He also has a Max Award for Best Male Dance Performer 2010 and is APDE Award 2012, awarded by the Association of Teachers of Spanish Dance, Classical and Flamenco, for his valuable contribution to the world of dance. |
