This show is a tribute to Antonia Mercé, La Argentina, one of the greatest references of Spanish dance.
Under the impulse of Antonia Mercé, the Ballets Espagnols brought together a constellation of the best Spanish creators in the fields of music, dance, costumes and scenery. On June 18, 1928, Mercé marked a milestone in history by premiering two ballets at the Théâtre Fémina in Paris, to great acclaim from the press and the public, which are now being revived: Sonatina, by Ernesto Halffter, and El contrabandista, by Óscar Esplá. Antonio Najarro has been in charge of recovering these ballets, creating two new choreographies.
