Orchestra of the Heinrich Heine University of Düsseldorf
The orchestra has performed concerts in renowned halls and has given numerous performances in collaboration with the Düsseldorf University Choir. The repertoire of the University Orchestra includes the great romantic symphonies as well as contemporary works and classical and baroque pieces.

The Heinrich-Heine-University Orchestra of the University of Düsseldorf was founded in 1987 by a small group of music-loving students. Since then the orchestra has been conducted by Silke Löhr, who became one of the cultural representatives of the city. Their concert tours have taken them to Croatia, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Israel, Holland, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, France, Switzerland, China and Japan.
Under the baton of conductor Silke Löhr, a former student of Sir Simon Rattle, the Heinrich Heine Universitat has become one of the best university orchestras in Germany and a true representative of Düsseldorf around the world. Their concert tours have taken them to Croatia, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Israel, Holland, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, France, Switzerland, China and Japan.
With regular appearances at the Düsseldorf Tonhalle, they have also played at prestigious venues such as the Gewandhaus in Leipzig and the Tonhalle in Zurich.

SILKE LÖHR (BERLIN. GERMANY, 1966) DIRECTOR
He studied music and mathematics in Cologne and conducting in Utrecht (The Netherlands).
He later complemented his training through master classes with Kurt Masur, Peter Eötvös, Jorma Panula, Helmuth Rilling and Eric Ericson, as well as attending master classes with Sir Simon Rattle.
From 2003 to 2005 he assisted the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest Holland in Dutch radio broadcasting in Hilversum. In 1999/2000 he conducted numerous concerts with the Bergische Symphonie as part of his Orchesterakademie scholarship.
Silke Löhr has been conductor of the Dusseldorfer Symphoniker, the WDR Sinfonieorchester Cologne, the Radio Habitation Orkest and the Radio Symfonie Orchestra of the Dutch Radio, the Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie Koblenz, the Musikfabrik NRW and the Oldenburgische Staatstheater as well as the Berlin Comic Opera.
In 1999 she was awarded the most promising prize for music proposed by the Land of North Rhine-Westphalia.
