Workshop given by Joseluís González
A workshop of verses
In his youth, in his third collection of poems, Claudio Rodríguez closes "Salvación del peligro" with these verses:
"Dangerous the trace, the promise/ Between the offering of things/ and that of life. //Miserable the moment if it is not song."
With these words the poet invites us to celebrate life, the present. Would that final hendecasyllable have the same force if it were *"Si no es canto el momento es miserable"? Or this one: *"Si miserable el canto no el momento"?
"We are already the past that we will be", is equivalent to "We will be the past that we already are"?
In this poetry workshop we will work on the basics of writing, on how to increase our expressive possibilities. In seven sessions you will learn the basics of metrics and poetic creativity.
More than a workshop, we aspire that these sessions become a kind of workshop. A workshop in the sense of the dictionary meaning: a craft workshop, especially bakery and confectionery, and a workshop dedicated to tailoring, ironing and sewing.
