Daniel Abreu was invited by José Manuel Garrido, the Museum's artistic director of performing arts and music, to create a new work based on the MUN's collections and architecture. The choreographer, dancer and director of his own company wanted to delve deeper into the idea of inheritance, of children... for this reason, during his visit to the Museum's collection in February 2020, he was captivated by a photograph by José Ortiz-Echagüe entitled La ternura (Tenderness).
Desde la ternura is a tribute to this photograph. Dácil González, Arnau Pérez and Daniel Abreu, accompanied by the wind music of Hugo Portas and other musical references from the 17th century such as John Dowland and other contemporary authors, will captivate the audience with actions of affection and respect, magic and mysticism in dance steps.
DANIEL ABREU ABOUT THE WORK
"Last February I visited the archives of the Museo Universidad de Navarra.... Among many works by José Ortiz-Echagüe I was captivated by La Ternura. An image where a man embraces a girl.
The image shows the emotion of someone who can contemplate several aspects of life: love, calm, respect, protection... These are ideas that motivate to build a dance on affection.
From tenderness is a creation about sweetness. Sequence of choreographies that will be placed in various spaces of the Museum". Daniel Abreu
