THE SHOW

Avalanche

Avalanche takes us into a world of dance confrontations and speaks to us above all of the inexorable passage of time. Dani Pannullo searches and explores on stage the meeting points of a world in which we expect technology to be able to reveal everything to us, but which, nevertheless, remains "that unknown" as far as human relationships are concerned.

This show presents the "deformed" beauty of our century and gathers different moments in the life of a director eager to see and recognize himself in diverse worlds, who accepts this diversity and focuses above all on showing us - from the physical language - how and why people move: from the most atavistic rituals of the villages to the complex presence of dance in the cities of millions of inhabitants. The simple movement of hands or legs coexists with the in-depth study of the most current choreography.

As a natural fact within the ideal of this company, Pannullo, interested in the new forms of urban sport that flourish today in the cities, includes in Avalanchein Avalanche, apart from the usual cast of dancers in his shows, a very new modality that is situated between control, the practice of sport and a certain virtuosity; tricks, creativity and style converted on stage into poetry.

That "another form of dance", according to its director, which is football free-style. As it did previously with b-boys, skaters, parkour, traceurs or beat boxers, the company tries to elevate these languages to the cultured stages seeking the acceptance of new audiences who observe how the dancers pursue like automatons an inanimate object - the ball - the upper, sit, lower of the freestyler himself, thus creating two visions of movement on stage, as if they were deciphering certain body codes that give beauty in any of its forms.

THE COMPANY

Dani Pannullo was born in Rio Negro in the Argentine Patagonia. Trained in dance and theater in Buenos Aires and after long periods of research in the USA and JapanHe settled in Spain, where he has been living for more than twenty years, and it is in Madrid where he has developed his entire artistic career as a choreographer and stage director.

His inspiration has always been urban culture to which he incorporates other dance expressions that he has met in his travels around the world, such as Japanese butoh, Egyptian dervish or flamenco, among others.

His company, created in 1999 with dancers from the most varied disciplines, has produced during his periods of residence at the Centro de Nuevos Creadores de Madrid and at the Centro de Danza Canal about twenty shows with which he has participated in national and international festivals representing contemporary creation in Spain and abroad.
