Qualia embraces new forms of expression by bringing dance, imagery, science, and light into dialogue as a performative act. In Qualia, the body in motion is presented as an infinite channel for acquiring and sharing knowledge about the physical nature of the world to which we belong.

Qualia is a notebook, a glossary of ideas, symbols, metaphors, and images whose aim is to enrich our perspective on what we call reality. It explores the quantum behavior of light to identify analogies that can be applied to movement and allow us to conceive of the body as an energetic entity.

In a social climate where technology seems to elude our understanding and the virtual world is gaining ground in human relationships, the question arises as to what place the body occupies: Can we conceive of it as an energetic entity that interacts with a world we cannot fully comprehend? In the current capitalist context, where the body is at the service of production and its identity is defined by class, race, or gender roles, Qualia draws on scientific knowledge to reclaim the body as a free territory, capable of generating new realities.

This project is the result of a collaboration between Joaquín Sevilla, a professor of physics, and Carmen Larraz, a dancer and choreographer, who have created a dialogue in which research and choreographic creation converge within a single framework.
