Roger Salas, the dance and ballet critic of the newspaper El País, will give a lecture on costumes in musicals. Afterwards, Black Tights and Le JeuneHomme et la Mort, audiovisual pieces that show Roland Petit's work as a choreographer, will be screened.

ROGER SALAS

Born in Holguín (Cuba) in 1950, he has been the dance and ballet critic of the newspaper El País for 28 years. As a critic and chronicler, he has been an illustrated witness of the most important events of the specialty worldwide, awarded and recognized by the ballet profession in the most demanding performance forums, from the Venice Biennale to the Mariinski Theater in St. Petersburg or the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. His lectures have reached the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires and the Guggenheim Museum in New York.

In addition to lecturing in different parts of the world, he is the author of numerous books and articles on dance and ballet. 

 
BLACK TIGHTS
 
Black Tights is a 1961 short film showing live scenes from Paris where a narrator splices together four spectacular choreographies by RolandPetit: Carmen (1949), La croqueuse de diamants (1950), Deuil en 24 heures (1953), and Cyrano de Bergerac (1959).

LE JEUNE HOMME ET LA MORT
Le Jeune Homme et la Mort is a ballet by Roland Petit, choreographed in 1946 to Bach's Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor, BWV 582, to a one-act libretto by Jean Cocteau. It tells the story of a young man driven to suicide by his unfaithful lover. Sets were by Georges Wakhévitch and costumes reported variously as by Karinska or Cocteau. Rudolf Nureyev and Zizi Jeanmaire. Duration: 15. Choreography: Roland Petit.
