Stage Costumes. Design, History and Theory of Costume and Fashion. Cinema and Theater. Diana Fernández (designer, educator and researcher) The designer Diana Fernández proposes a trip to the exciting world of theatrical costume design and the influence of fashion in the most important stages of the history of the show. "The costumes in the history of theatrical art", "Caricature and costume", "Costume designers in the Cinema", "Fashion personalities";"Catherine Zuber. Stage Costumes for Broadway and the Tony Awards"; among others, will be some of the topics presented at the Conference.
DIANA FERNÁNDEZ GONZÁLEZ
Designer, educator and researcher. Born in New York, United States. Graduated in 1972 in Theatrical Design at the National School of Art and in 1984 in Theatrical Design at the Higher Institute of Art of Havana.

As a theatrical designer , she has created costumes for more than twenty productions. In the cinematographic field, she has designed the costumes for more than twenty feature films, short films and television series, among which stand out: La Bella del Alhambra, the series La botija (both awarded as best costumes at the UNEAC Film Festival in Havana, Caracol Award in 1990), and Algo más que soñar, TV series. Other works as costume designer have been: the series Curro Jiménez II, for SG Producciones and Antena 3, Cuarteto de La Habana by Fernando Colomo, Pata Negra by Luis Oliveros and Roble de Olor by Rigoberto López, among others.
In teaching, she has more than thirty years of experience. He has developed an extensive work in the development of plans and curricula on History and Theory of Costume, Scenic Plastic and Costume Design in various educational institutions in Cuba and Spain.
She has participated as a guest speaker in scientific events, courses, conferences and congresses in Cuba, Spain and other countries such as Ecuador, Nicaragua, Mexico, Colombia, Poland, Finland and Czech Republic. She has written and published articles and texts on her specialty, among them: El traje: glossary of terms (1990), El traje: fundamentos para su diseño en la escena(1991); El traje: apuntes sobre su evolución histórica (1991), La moda en el vestir: consideraciones sobre su valor comunicativo (1996). She is a regular contributor with articles in magazines such as Arqueología del Siglo XXI, in which she has published more than 10 articles related to the History of Costume. She has received awards and mentions for her research work.
Since 1992 she has organized and taught courses on the History and Theory of Costume and Fashion and Scenic Costume Design in various Spanish institutions. Professor since 1997 at the Escuela de Cinematografía y del Audiovisual de la Comunidad de Madrid (ECAM), in charge of the subject El traje en la historia y en la ficción cinematográfica, for the specialty of Art Direction. Collaborating professor in other educational centers such as: Carlos III University (Master in Fashion and Beauty Communication Vogue); Francisco de Vitoria University (Master of specialization in Fashion Journalism), the Faculty of Architecture of the UPM (Master in Interior Architecture Design), among others.
