Dance and robotics on stage: the irruption of AI

From Wednesday, November 12 to Friday, November 14
Price  35€ (general public) and 24€ (UNAV students)
Taught by Óscar González and Moisés Moe (Iron Skulls Co)

This proposal focuses on the interaction between dance, robotics and artificial intelligence, taking as a reference Famulus 4.0, the new project of Iron Skulls Co. Through a theoretical-practical session, participants will explore how technology is not only a scenic element, but also a partner of interpretation and artistic creation.

This proposal seeks to bring attendees closer to the intersection between dance, robotics and artificial intelligence, taking as a reference Famulus 4.0, the new project of Iron Skulls Co. Through theoretical and practical sessions distributed over three days, participants will explore how technology is not only a scenic element, but also a companion or pet of interpretation and artistic creation.

An opportunity to experiment with movement, reflect on human-machine interaction and learn about the use of AI and robotics in the performing arts.

Wednesday, November 12 (15:00 - 16:00 h)

Technology, art and the future: keys to a stage dialogue

  • Introduction to Iron Skulls Co. and its research on body, technology and dance.
  • Presentation of the Famulus 4.0 project and its uniqueness in the use of a robot dog as an interpreter.
  • Brief overview of the challenges, lessons learned and questions raised by the creation process.
  • Open discussion with students on human relationships in the digital age and the role of AI or robotics in the scene.

Thursday, November 13 (13:00 - 16:00 h)

Expanded movement: body, machine and stage presence.

  • Practice of improvisation and movement exploration with technological objects.
  • Interaction with the robot dog from body and space.
  • Collective exercises that simulate dynamics of control, autonomy and alienation.
  • Sharing: how does our perception of the other change when it is a machine? And of the body when it becomes automated?

Friday, November 14th

The dismantled scene: technical guided tour (13:00 - 14:00 h)

  • Observation of the scenic and technological assembly of Famulus 4.0.
  • Conversation with the artistic and technical team about lighting, software, robotics and spatiality.

Viewing of the play (7:30 p.m.)

  • Attendance to the complete function.
