American and Latin American symphonic music of the 20th and 21st centuries.

The Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra brings to the stage of the MUN a concert of Latin American rhythms of the 20th century that are still alive today: music composed by the Brazilian Heitor Villa-Lobos, the Argentine Astor Piazzolla and the Peruvian-born American Gabriela Lena Frank, winner of a Latin Grammy in 2009 for the best contemporary classical composition.

Maestro Beatriz Fernández Aucejo, a Valencian from Paiporta, conducts the Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra. Fernández, with a promising and consolidated career, with experience in conducting university orchestras, was the winner in 2022 of the second edition of the International Orchestral Conducting Competition "La Maestra", promoted by the Mozart Orchestra and the Philharmonie de Paris, to promote the careers of women in orchestral conducting. This opportunity has led her to give a strong impulse to her training at the academy of "La Maestra" and to conduct important orchestras. Now she arrives in Pamplona to conduct the OSN in this proposal.

SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA OF NAVARRA

In its one hundred and forty years of existence, the OSN/NOS has been invited by the main auditoriums, opera seasons and festivals both in Spain and abroad. As a reference interpreter of Pablo Sarasate, its recording of the complete works of the famous Navarrese composer with violinist Tianwa Yang was unanimously praised by international critics. Likewise, the series of recordings with maestro Antoni Wit constitutes one of the phonographic milestones in his history.

It currently presents to the public of Navarra an annual season of subscription concerts in Pamplona, Tudela and Tafalla and develops an important social and educational activity throughout the region through the program Sinfónica en Navarra. It collaborates with the Museo Universidad de Navarra for the co-production of contemporary music concerts.

Currently integrated in the Baluarte Fundazioa Foundation and financed mainly by the Government of Navarra, the Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra/Nafarroako Orkestra Sinfonikoa, founded by Pablo Sarasate in 1879, is the oldest active group in the Spanish symphonic panorama.
