Paul, grieving the loss of his wife, finds himself at Mr. Christopher's Hospice in London with Cicely Saunders, founder of palliative care. Through scenes alternating between 2005 and 1947, the relationship between Cicely and David Tasma, a Polish immigrant with cancer, is presented. The story reveals the emotional connection between the two, the tensions this causes between the protagonist and her friend, and the inspiration for founding the Hospice. The play culminates by highlighting the importance of compassion and the personal transformation experienced in caring for serious illness.

The play and its staging are part of the research dissemination work of the ATLANTES Research Group - University of Navarra.
