Improvisation in contemporary dance is one of the creative pillars that keep the innovation of movement alive.

The ultimate goal of the workshop for the artist is to share the basis of her own experience as a dancer and creator in the show Noche Barroca.

Through this work with Marta Coronado the participant will find in the workshop guides and suggestions to the participants on how to use these principles of improvisation and composition.

In this way, the group will have access to the creative process that was carried out in this piece and will get to know the ins and outs of the choreography's realization.

Without realizing it, without being conscious, we link dance sequences in the most routine or involuntary movements. Movements that can become dance, choreography, once passed through the sieve of the contexts of creation.

It is a challenge for every dancer to reproduce this source of dance material and to frame it within the idea of "authentic movement". And at the same time every creator is inspired by the idea of conveying the profound authenticity of dance to people who are not normally accustomed to academic codes.

In this introductory workshop to improvisation we will connect with the motor intuition that makes us move in a natural way.

We will explore through various exercises the possibilities of authentic movement. We will close our eyes to close the door to judgment, both external and internal.

Each participant will gain confidence in his or her own dance by realizing that his or her motor and stylistic abilities are extensive, interesting, fun, perhaps even profound or infinite. In pairs of mirrors, in instant copy games in triangles... he will become aware of the essentially group character of improvisation.

Workshop participants will gain confidence in their own dance as they will gradually realize that their motor and stylistic abilities are extensive, interesting, fun perhaps, deep and infinite. These abilities can be shared in mirror pair compositions and instant copy games in triangles. Once the participants understand that these games have choreographic potential we will open the door to larger constellations such as quartets or quintets.
