Screening of the film and subsequent lecture by Jorge Latorre, university professor of Art History and researcher on Erice's cinema.

In Víctor Erice's Broken Glass (Vidros partidos, 2012), the historic center of Guimarães (Braga, Portugal), although not physically present, intervenes in the film like the Asturian-Leonese basin and the border between Spain and Portugal in Gonnord's portraits, in the same way that the recreation in a Hollywood studio of the Welsh mining town operates in Ford's film. They serve as the foundation of the story and the memory of the characters. The Guimarães textile factory closes its doors after 150 years of existence, and Erice's camera collects the testimonies of its workers, who describe their trade with longing and bitter melancholy. Cristales rotos is the possibility of answering the question of what we are in the face of our memory. Erice's gaze -like those of Gonnord and Ford, foreign but complicit- is based on the shot/countershot, a device that sustains his cinematographic dialectic: there are shots that belong to the world of the living, the real characters; and there are others that belong to the world of the dead, the photographs of the past, which come back to life with the testimony of the workers.
