Inaugural colloquium with Sergi Aguilar

19 SEP / 19:00
Theater
Free admission with prior withdrawal of invitation

On this occasion, Sergi Aguilar, Spanish sculptor, goldsmith, draftsman and photographer, connoisseur of the work and personal friend of José Luis Alexanco, will share with the public a colloquium on the exhibition before opening the doors of the galleries.

Alexanco, an unclassifiable artist, tireless seeker of the ways in which movement can be represented on a plane, was working on this project that can be seen in the Museum's Sala 'La Caixa' at the time of his death.

The first works of Sergi Aguilar i Sanchis (Barcelona, 1946) were in bronze, brass and marble, with a post-minimalist style influenced by Russian constructivism and the work of sculptors such as Julio González, Jorge Oteiza, Eduardo Chillida and Constantin Brâncusi. In his work, nature and geometry are especially relevant, concepts from which he develops his idea of space, through which he establishes a dialogue between the object and its environment. At the beginning of the 2000s, he abandoned sculpture and began to focus on the territory as the main tool in his work. His work can be found in the best museums and galleries of contemporary art, such as the Guggenheim Museum, the MACBA, the MNCARS, the Kunsthalle Mannheim, the Fundación La Caixa and the Fundación Juan March. He is currently director of the Fundació Suñol in Barcelona.

This event is part of the Encuentros de Pamplona 72-22 calendar, a cultural event that has brought together many cultural institutions that bring their own approach to the 50th anniversary of the original Encuentros de Pamplona of '72 promoted by the Huarte family and organized by the ALEA Group, of which Alexanco was a member.
