THE SHOW
The gentlemanly bourgeois was the first of the classic texts that Morboria staged 30 years ago and for which Eva del Palacio, its director, won the Ágora Award for Best New Director at the Almagro International Festival in 1995. The play had not been performed in Spain for almost 40 years and after the success of this production, which was staged for more than 200 performances, the comedy has returned to the Spanish theatrical repertoire.
After 20 years without staging it, the company decided to bring it back to life recently on the occasion of its 30th anniversary when, after more than 50 shows of its own, Morboria has become an expert company in Molière with five productions of his great works behind it, which have brought it recognition, applause and awards.
Molière's original text is the masterpiece of French 17th century ballet comedy, written at the request of Louis XIV for the festivities that took place at the Château de Chambord on October 14, 1670. It served as entertainment for the Sun King at the most refined and spectacular court in Europe and since 1680 has been part of the regular repertoire of the Comedie Française, being successfully performed over the centuries in many countries.
The work continues to remind us today that appearances, even if they are by design, are useless:"that there is something lowly in concealing the condition that heaven has given us and that the world is full of ignoramuses in the guise of divinity".
Let's enjoy the hand of Molière and Morboria's staging of this comedy full of play and fun, this lavish show full of rhythm, color, music and dance with references to the Music Hall, circus and dance.

MORBORIA TEATRO
For 30 years Eva del Palacio and Fernando Aguado have captained together the independent theater company Morboria, always driven by the love for theater, dance, music, painting, art and the creative part of human nature. Boldness, imagination, perseverance, work, sweat and tears but, above all, laughter, lots of laughter and constant playfulness drive them in their trajectory.
Morboria gives as much importance to the text as to the aesthetic part , always looking for the total show. Movement, rhythm, characterization, make-up and costumes are part of a whole at the service of the show. Since 1983, the Aguado brothers (Álvaro and Fernando) and the Del Palacio brothers (Eva, Ana and Trajano) maintain a design and production workshop from which arise impossible characterizations, monsters, fantastic beings, animals, princesses, mythological heroes, jesters, dragons, armors, dresses and a thousand and one objects that have created the peculiar "seal of the house" in their productions.
They have premiered more than 50 shows including classical texts by Rojas, Zorrilla, Tirso de Molina, Shakespeare, Molière, Zorrilla or Moreto, as well as contemporary plays and texts, street theater, children's theater or performances. With them they have won several awards for best direction, best show, best staging, best actor...
