Control. Javier Martín

The Galician choreographer and dancer Javier Martín will premiere Control on February 20, a co-production of the Museo Universidad de Navarra and the consulting firm Artibus.

On November 17, Martín participated in the Festival Internacional Madrid en Danza with the work in progress of the same piece.

From a scientific background and with multiple conceptual interests, Martín proposes his solo-improvisation and subsequent debate as a shared experience. At Control develops the concept of transformation to create a solo. The Galician artist wants to "discover how this psychic energy is structured in the body; to find out how this energy remains immobile, potential, patterning and changing the location of the constant movement of homeostasis, its inherent kinetics or biodynamics".

"I was never interested in the movement of the body, what interests me is the movement of the soul. The body expresses itself as a consequence of the movement of the soul. Working the choreographies from the body is a superficial way of acting, and therefore wrong to talk about the truly important and immanent things", emphasizes the artist.

Collaborate and learn with artists and scientists of the current scene to develop sensitivity in the body and achieve a greater awareness of movement, working everything related to the creative process and staging.
