The company Nao D'amores rescues Numancia, by Miguel de Cervantes, to bring it back to the present. This tragedy reflects on the limits of human freedom, individual and collective; and it is also the tragic expression of human impotence and its submission to the forms of power.

This version, directed by Ana Zamora and co-produced by the Compañía Nacional de Teatro Clásico, is another milestone in Nao D'amores' research in the field of medieval and Renaissance theater, whose productions rescue the Spanish theatrical heritage and relate it to today's world.

The theater of Miguel de Cervantes stands as a very important step in the evolution of scenic forms at the end of the 16th century. The cultural values that Christianity will impose, replacing the Greco-Latin tragic forms, will find in Cervantes an essential figure to propose a profound change, which will lead us to a modern conception of the theatrical plot and the creation of characters. We should begin to recognize in him one of the great renovators of the Golden Age theater and be aware that his use of the tragic form will mark many of the subsequent playwrights.

ANA ZAMORA
Graduated in Stage Direction and Dramaturgy by RESAD, in 2001 she founded Nao d'amores, a group of professionals from classical theater, puppetry and early music, which develops a research and training work for the staging of the pre-Baroque. With this company he has premiered thirteen shows that represent a milestone in the recovery of pre-baroque theater, from a contemporary perspective.

As a freelance director, she has staged a wide range of texts, being able to highlight her work for public institutions: Carmen, by Bizet for the Teatro de la Zarzuela (2014), Ligazón, by Valle-Inclán in Avaricia, Lujuria y Muerte produced by the Centro Dramático Nacional (2009); or Tragicomedia de Don Duardos by Gil Vicente for the Compañía Nacional de Teatro Clásico (2006).

In the field of cultural management, he has been a member of the artistic teams of the Compañía Nacional de Teatro Clásico under the direction of Eduardo Vasco (2005-2006), and at the Teatro de La Abadía under the direction of José Luis Gómez (2002-2004).

Since 2015 she has been part of the teaching team of the Master in Theatrical Creation directed by Juan Mayorga at the Carlos III University , of the Master of Advanced Studies in Voice and Artistic Speech of the ITEM of the Complutense University and of Fuentes de la Voz (Center for the Investigation of Voice, Word and Verse) since 2019.

Throughout his professional career he has received several awards, among which we could highlight the Ojo Crítico de Teatro 2008 Award from RNE, among others.

NAO D'AMORES
In 2001 Nao d'amores was born. This group of professionals and company has as its starting point its interest in texts that are not part of the usual repertoire, but are basic steps in understanding the evolution of our dramatic history. Far from pretending to be an archaeological reconstruction, their way of staging articulates very primitive scenic techniques from a contemporary point of view.

To date they have premiered 15 shows, 13 of them in the line of work on primitive theater, which are already a benchmark internationally, and 2 shows in a line of contemporary creation. The most recent Andanzas de Don Cristóbal Polichinela (2021); NISE, the tragedy of Inés de Castro, in co-production with the Community of Madrid (2019); Comedia Aquilana, by Torres Naharro, in co-production with the Compañía Nacional de Teatro Clásico (2018).

As a stable team of recognized trajectory, the members of Nao d'amores have collaborated with the Compañía Nacional de Teatro Clásico in the shows Viaje del Parnaso ( 2005) directed by Eduardo Vasco and Tragicomedia de Don Duardos (2006) under the direction of Ana Zamora.

Nao d'amores has an enormous list of awards and nominations; it has several bibliographic and discographic publications, and regularly carries out theoretical and practical training courses on pre-baroque theater. The company also collaborates regularly with research groups from various Spanish universities.
