MUN Theatre

The MUN is staging this reinterpretation of the Greek classic by director Fernanda Orazi, which has won awards such as the MAX Award 2024 (Best Newcomer Show), the Godot Award 2023 (Best Direction) and the MAX Award 2024 (Best Version).

"That which would make life unlivable, that from which we must flee as soon as possible, the theater wants it. Like a hand holding a fire just to see it, it affirms it, seeks it and re-creates it. The theater drinks, eats and reproduces itself in what we discard and banish as impossible to carry out in "real life". Electra is the trajectory of a sustained flame that challenges its own and the performance not to drop the fire and to raise the stakes of the theater as far as necessary. We have said Yes to this Electra and to the adventure of tackling a Greek tragedy that is also, for us, dramatic beings, the unactuable. With a sustained Yes we have come this far to throw this promise into the arena of the theater in which, as in tragedy, not everything is in our hands". In the words of director Fernanda Orazi.

A tragedy of yesteryear made today...

"Perhaps what is classic about a classic is that capacity to donate an experience that is always new and different to the extent that we do not relate to it as something already known. It doesn't matter what classic we are talking about, what doesn't matter is whether our intention is to conquer it with our prejudices or to get to know it."
Fernanda Orazi
