Teresa Catalán: Meeting-Concert

This year the Museum's theater welcomes Teresa Catalán, one of the main composers of our country, in a meeting that will allow the audience to know her figure and her work from different approaches.

 

In the first part, Teresa Catalán will be accompanied by the manager Patxi Larrañaga and the musicologist and informer of Radio Clásica Eva Sandoval. Three friends who will meet on the stage of the theater, where Mario Prisuelos will perform some of the most representative piano works of the composer.

In the second part, the public will be able to continue to enjoy Teresa Catalán's work in her dance facet with the performance of Gravity 0ºa creation of the company Elephant in The Black Box, based on the play La danza de la princesa performed by the dancer Valentina Pedica.

TERESA CATALÁN (COMPOSER)

Teresa Catalán, composer and Professor of Composition and Instrumentation at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, was born in Pamplona where she studied music, graduating in Piano and Composition. In her training as a composer in Spain and Italy, her teachers Ramón Barce and Agustín González Acilu stand out.

D. in Philosophy of Art and Master in Aesthetics and Musical Creativity from the University of Valencia. She has received several awards for interpretation, composition and recognition of her musical career. She was a founding member of the Pamplona Group of Composers (Iruñeako Taldea Musikagileak). He has been a member of the Council of Culture of the Government of Navarre and of the State Council for the Performing Arts and Music. He has directed the music section of several Meetings and Festivals.

He has received commissions from various national and international institutions and has given courses and lectures at Festivals, Institutions, Universities, Conservatories, highlighting the work done at the invitation of the P. Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow.

Author of the treatise Sistemas compositivos temperados en el siglo XX, she also publishes articles in important books and magazines. Her creations for symphony orchestra, chamber music, solo instruments... are programmed in the most important international festivals (Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Argentina, Russia, USA, Holland, Cuba, Romania...). In 2011 he received the decoration of the Encomienda de la Orden al Mérito Civil.

 

EVA SANDOVAL

 

Since 2008 he has been a member of the staff of RTVE's Radio Clásica, where he has presented and directed or co-directed the magazines with interviews and musical performances. Tea for three y Music on the flyspecialized programs Last Light, Schubert Songs y Comedy tunesand music selection spaces Summer mornings and afternoons, Summer nights, Sea view y Reflections in the water. From January 2010 to the present time, he has been directing the monographic program Great Cycles and since October 2013 Live musica program about contemporary music. In October 2016, he began co-directing the program Studio 206 with live musical performances.

She has collaborated in various music magazines and since 2007 she has regularly written concert program notes for various institutions. During the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 seasons she has been scriptwriter and presenter of pedagogical concerts for schoolchildren organized by the Fundación Caja Madrid at the Auditorio Nacional de Música and the Auditorio de la Universidad Carlos III in Leganés.

 

 

PATXI LARRAÑAGA

After a period as a composer, his professional career has developed in the areas of management (head of cultural activities at the Cervantes Institute in Rome; music, theater and dance technician at the Cervantes Institute headquarters), training (director of the Centro de Tecnología del Espectáculo - Instituto Nacional de las Artes Escénicas y de la Música) and criticism (Guía del Ocio de Madrid - cercadelacerca.blogspot.com) of the performing arts. He is an architect. Since 2014 he has been working in the central services of INAEM, attached to the PLATEA program.

 

MARIO PRISUELOS (PIANO)

Mario Prisuelos made his international debut at the Feuchtwangen Piano Festival as part of the acclaimed Musikzauber Franken in Germany, where critics praised his "great talent and strong power of communication". Since then he began an intense concert activity as a recitalist, as a soloist in orchestra or chamber ensembles, with debuts in halls in Vienna, Milan, Paris, London, Florence, Rio de Janeiro, New York, Miami, etc... He is a regular guest at important festivals throughout Europe. He has made recordings and radio recordings with Verso, Sonoris, RTVE and Hrvatski Croatian Radio among others.

Considered one of the most relevant pianists of his generation, he has recently made an extensive tour of the United States that has led him to make his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York, as well as concerts at the Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, the Ircam-Centro Pompidou in Paris or the Zagreb Music Academy, among others.
