WORLD PREMIERE

How do we perceive color, sound, or movement? How do dance and music interact with the visual artworks that adorn the walls of the MUN? How do you dance in pleated costumes, and how do they interact with the light?

These are some of the questions at the heart of this performance for three performers and objects, which takes place in the galleries of the exhibition “Live and Direct: Color, Perception, and Experience.”

Based on a research project on folded forms conducted by Yaiza Pinillos in collaboration with the faculty and students of the Fashion Design program at the University of Navarra’s School of Architecture, this performance—starring Olga Pericet, Pastora Andrades, and Curro Ureba—takes the audience on a journey through the works and galleries of the exhibition on color and its perception.

Olga Pericet

An internationally renowned artist, dancer, and choreographer, Olga Pericet shares her vibrant art with audiences at the world’s leading festivals and theaters. Drawing on tradition, she plunges into the unknown with performances that embody a flamenco of contrasts: dark and light, feminine and masculine, unsettling and beautiful.

In 2018, she received the National Dance Award in the Performance category for “her ability to bring together the various disciplines of Spanish dance, updating them through a performance style that bears her own distinctive mark” and for “her versatility on stage and her remarkable ability to connect with the audience.”

Her career began in her native Córdoba. She earned her degree from the Luis del Río Professional Conservatory. She studied at the accredited Maica Moyano School and trained in flamenco, folklore, bolero, and classical dance under such renowned masters as Matilde Coral, Manolo Marín, Concha Calero, Juanjo Linares, Pedro Azorín, and Eloy Pericet, among others.

She has performed as a soloist and guest artist with companies such as those led by Rafaela Carrasco, Nuevo Ballet Español, Arrieritos, Miguel Ángel Berna, Teresa Nieto, Belén Maya, and the Spanish National Ballet. She has shared the stage with Ana Laguna, Nacho Duato, and Enrique Morente.

A major innovator in flamenco, she has received numerous awards recognizing her technical mastery, the harmony, and the artistry of her work. Among the most recent is the MAX Award for Best Dance Performer for *Un cuerpo infinito* (2020). She has left her mark on numerous theaters and gala events around the world: New York (City Center), Lyon (Maison de la Danse), London (Sadler’s Wells); Sydney (Opera House), Hong Kong (HKAPA Lyric Theatre), Miami (Arsht Center); Amsterdam (Bienale Nederland, International Theatre Amsterdam), among others.

In Spain: Barcelona (Mercats de les Flors), Valencia (Dansa València), Madrid (Teatros del Canal, Teatro Español, Madrid en Danza Festival, the Actors' Union 20th Anniversary Gala at the Teatro de La Abadía, and many more.

Yaiza Pinillos

A stage costume designer with extensive experience in large-scale productions. Her work is defined by a personal approach to the relationship between the body, movement, and dramaturgy.

With a bachelor’s degree in art history, she furthered her education at Central Saint Martins (London) and the Fondazione Roberto Capucci (Florence), specializing in textile techniques and treatments for the stage. In 2010, her work was selected for the “Dressed to Dance” exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, where it was displayed alongside works by Picasso and Dalí.

She has designed costumes for major productions and repertoire pieces associated with the Spanish National Ballet and the National Drama Center, and she regularly collaborates with private dance companies, including the Antonio Najarro Company (on an ongoing basis since 2015) and the Antonio Gades Company. In the field of musical theater, in 2025 he designed the costumes for *Cinderella: The Musical* (Stage Entertainment). He also collaborates regularly with the CSIC on research projects regarding heritage dance costumes and complements his creative work by teaching at universities and specialized training centers.
