Bailador is a contemporary Galician dance piece based on the music of Berrogüetto. It is a choreographic work that pays a deep tribute to a music that was not born to be danced, where Galician roots dance is mixed with other languages of movement to give a bodily sense to the music of a group that transformed the way of making and understanding the sound of our land.

Bailador vindicates the fundamental role of Galician women as preservers and transmitters of popular wisdom, eclipsed women who did not dare to "take up the dance" because they were rejected in their closest circles. Bailador is a sign of respect, affection and admiration for all those women who, from generation to generation, have been able to perpetuate in time the dance forms that make up our dance, displaying, in many cases, unique skills.

The money raised from this show will go to the Navarra Parkinson's Association (ANAPAR).

Óscar Cobos

A dancer, teacher, director, choreographer, producer and researcher from Compostela, he began his career in the field of traditional Galician folk dance in 1988. In 1999 he moved to the United States where he directed the dance schools of the Galician centers in the Tri-State Area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut). In 2005, back in Compostela, she founded GS21, a Galician dance company that renews the concepts of Galician folk dance from a contemporary point of view.

In 2011 he moved to live in Buenos Aires where he trained as a Tango-Dance performer and teacher at the Universidad Nacional de las Artes, where he graduated in 2017. There he remains in contact with the Galician dance being part of the Xeito Novo Galician Culture Foundation and teaching classes.

He returns to Compostela in 2018 where he creates his new project: the OCDANZA, a professional dance company that works the Galician dance from multiple looks, being both respectful with an acquired heritage and transgressive in its staging.
