Baroque Orchestra of Seville. Brandenburg Concerts
The Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla, conducted by Pedro Gandía Martín, performs the Brandenburg Concertos No. 3, 5 and 6 and Suite No. 2 by Johann Sebastian Bach. The OBS is considered in the first level of Spanish groups dedicated to the interpretation of early music with historicist criteria.
"Vertiginous tempi, played with astonishing transparency in connivance with delicate textures, thrilling conjunction of a very rich instrumentation, delicious ornamentations, expressiveness in the flesh in the slow passages... Simply an extraordinary Bach for its brilliance and depth. Flagship of its country, the public rose to its feet to acclaim the OBS with its ovations".

PROGRAM
Johann Sebastian Bach Brandenburg Concertos Nos. 3, 5 and 6
Suite No. 2
As in other sectors of his catalog, Bach assumed in his orchestral music the two national styles of reference in his time, the Italian and the French. From the former derived the concertos; from the latter, the suites. Both the Brandenburg Concertos and the Suites-Overtures date from the Cöthen period (1717-23), although the composer returned to them in Leipzig, then reworking the four suites. The 2nd is built on concertante principles, due to the presence of the solo flute, but its structure is characteristic of the genre: wide French-style overture followed by a succession of dances. The Brandenburgs, on the other hand, have a tripartite structure and combine the principles of concerto grosso with those of the concerto with soloist.
