Oskara Plazara (dantza eta zinema)

Oskara unites dance and cinema The creative process of Kukai Dantza and Marcos Morau "If you want to know who you are, dance! Based on the documentary made by Pablo Iraburu and Iñaki Alforja, Kukai Dantza proposes this format where dance and cinema come together. Three dancers perform fragments of the show Oskara, combined with the projection of the documentary.

Oskara is an installation work that traces some passages of Basque culture, myths, from its origin to contemporary times and draws a plastic and emotional journey of symbols and iconography of ambiguous and disconcerting force that, in the most absolute way, contains the history of human experience.

Oskara is the encounter between Kukai Dantza and Marcos Morau / La Veronal, it is the union between two choreographic universes and two looks towards dance that navigate between the most popular roots and the most avant-garde expression.

The show has been awarded Best Dance Show at the 30th International Theatre and Dance Fair of Huesca (2016) and with three MAX Awards; Best Costumes, Best Cast and Best Dance Show. The company Kukai Dantza is National Dance Award 2017.

DOCUMENTARY

 

 

The documentary narrates the creative process that arises from the meeting between the choreographer Marcos Morau and the company Kukai Dantza. Together they create a show with the aim of narrating the challenges, encounters, ideas, emotions, failures and successes behind the creative process.

Oksara has been awarded Best Production at FIVER (International Festival of Dance and Audiovisual Dance) and Best Cinematography at the Madrid Film Festival FCM-PNR. In addition, it also received a nomination for best production at the Portobello Film Festival Awards.

PABLO IRABURU (SPAIN, 1969). Founder and creative director of Arena. Co-director of "Nömadak Tx", "Pura Vida", "Muros", "District Zero" and many other documentaries, always with the Arena team. Apart from his facet as a documentary filmmaker, Iraburu produces audiovisual pieces for different museums, such as the National Archaeological Museum, video art, installations and video dance.

IÑAKI ALFORJA (SPAIN, 1967). Independent filmmaker. He specializes in documentaries, but has also produced projects of all kinds: commercials, corporate videos, films, music videos and TV programs, such as "Yasuní, genocide in the jungle", from Discovery Max. He has directed the feature documentary "Motxila 21".
