The course began with the sessions of the Manager of the El Greco Museum, Ana Carmen Lavín Berdonces, who highlighted the opportunity to take advantage of the centenary of his death to try to promote his painting, increase the knowledge of the painter and increase tourism in the city of Toledo. To this end, they have wanted to organize different acts and activities, such as this summer course, to promote his painting in other places. "The influence of El Greco is not only in the city of Toledo but over the centuries has come to influence different periods and arts," said Ana Carmen Lavín.
Other activities will also take place, such as the XX Edition of the CEHA Congress (Spanish Committee of Art History), an event co-organized with the Museum of the University of Navarra, which will be held in Toledo.
Jesús Criado Mainar, from the University of Zaragoza, will speak on the beginnings of Counter-Reformationist painting in Navarre, and Professor María Concepción García Gainza, from the Chair of Heritage and Art of Navarre, will speak on Juan de Anchieta and his sculpture.
