Avant-garde and excellence go hand in hand in CreAcciónthe new show by Metamorphosis Dance, whose premiere is at Museo Universidad de Navarra this Saturday, November 6, at 7:30 p.m., as part of the series Museo en Danza. This is his first work after the awarding of the National Dance Award 2020 to Iratxe Ansa, director and choreographer of the company with Igor Bacovich. Tickets are 26, 24 and 22 euros.

The piece shows the result of the research carried out by Ansa and Bacovich within the artistic residency program of Performing Arts and Music of the Museum. A group of eleven people not linked to dance participated with the company in a seven-week process, during which they explored their concerns and how to transfer them to the body, to dance, in a show with high quality requirements. The initial challenges were the relationship of the creative process with the public, the correlation between the idea and its dance representation and the proximity of contemporary art to the concerns of citizens.

"The show will reflect many of the results of the conversations we had with the working group and with each other. What you will see on stage will be choreographic language, which is the result of concepts that come from what was proposed at the beginning of the process, as well as choreographic and scenic decisions," explained Igor Bacovich at the presentation of the proposal, which also involved Iratxe Ansa; Teresa Lasheras, director of Performing Arts and Music at the Museum; and Natalia Riva, Jorge Vázquez and Nora Franco, participants in this creative process.

The driving force of the piece were the ideas or concepts that each of the participants shared with the group, totally different proposals. "It was complex to draw a dramaturgical line, so the starting point was to spin not the concepts themselves, but the choreographic materials that emerged from them. Each concept materialized in the dancers' bodies, choreographic materials were created and we spun them. This was the initial mass with which we developed the piece," says the choreographer.

This is Metamorphosis Dance's first work after Iratxe Ansa, director and choreographer of the company together with Igor Bacovich, was awarded the National Dance Prize 2020.

MOBILIZING EMOTIONS

In this sense, Ansa pointed out that a creation involves addressing very diverse issues: "There are many creations within a creation and each dancer is one". In total, there will be five dancers on stage, with a set designed especially for the piece and the soundtrack by Juan Belda. For the choreographer, it has been fundamental "to share and learn from these exchanges and to question ourselves all the time. We think about how to make each idea make sense and be essential within the piece. Thus, she explains that there are no "exact ideas to understand, but we want each person to fly".

Some of the concepts that were worked on were doubt, search or perseverance to achieve a goal. This last concept was the one that Natalia Riva brought to the working group, based on the song Tracción a sangre, by Gustavo Cerati. For her, a researcher at the School of Pharmacy, the process has been especially significant because of its transformation. "It is magical to see that from an idea of something that maybe I didn't want to see, that was hidden, something beautiful and that mobilizes so many emotions". For his part, Jorge Vázquez, a student at the School of Architecture, has valued how the experience has made him "think not only about the movement, but also about what was around the stage." For Nora Franco, "it has been fortunate to be able to see the creative process and decision making of a professional dance company and to work with its directors and dancers. We have been able to see how an idea was transformed into a body".
