The Museum presents its programming for fall 2015
The season will begin on September 11 with a workshop on the generation of artistic projects, to be given by photographer Javier Vallhonrat.
The Museo Universidad de Navarra starts its new program on September 11, aimed at all those interested in attending the museum activities designed. The activity will begin with a workshop on the generation of artistic projects, which will be given by photographer Javier Vallhonrat.
The new season was presented at a press conference with the participation of the Museum's director, Jaime García del Barrio; and Valentín Vallhonrat, José Manuel Garrido and Rafael Levenfeld, members of the Artistic Direction Committee.
In the field of exhibitions, there will be two shows this season. The first one, scheduled for October 28, is "Nitrate", by Xavier Ribas, a co-production between the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona (MACBA) and the University Museum. The second one, "Jan Mayen" by Cristina de Middel, will open on Nov. 18. This was explained by Valentin Vallhonrat, who pointed out that the author of this exhibition is "a best-seller and her photo-book 'The afronauts' has been a total and resounding success".
With respect to the performing arts, 9 dance, theater and music shows were presented. Carmen Cortés' Flamenco Dance Company opened the season at the Museum Theater with a co-production between the Almagro Theater Festival, the Calderón Theater and Museo Universidad de Navarra. It is "La Gitanilla" by Cervantes, a play about the virtues of the gypsy people that can be seen on September 25. Also of dance, but in this case classical, will be the performance of the Johannesburg Ballet with "Masterpieces of the universal repertoire".
José Manuel Garrido also highlighted the figure ofJavier Martín, a dancer who last season premiered his work "Control" at the Museum. This year the Museum continues its trajectory and returns to have the young artist who will perform "Oxímora".
This year, in addition, the Museum's rooms will be the setting for a series of classical theater workshops that, in collaboration with the GRISO (Research Group on the Golden Age of the University of Navarra), will bring together the works of authors such as Calderón de la Barca, Tirso de Molina and Lope de Vega.
On the other hand, the Academic, Public and Educational Programs offer various activities for all audiences related to the programming of exhibitions and performing arts. There will also be a workshop to learn how to write a first novel and a film series. Likewise, the family workshops and the two daily guided tours will continue, and the programs aimed at schoolchildren will be renewed, with the design of a workshop suitable for each age group, from 0 to 17 years old.
