540 students of the Instituto - Centro Integrado Cuatrovientos of Pamplona have participated this month in the Art Recyclers project. Art Recyclersproject, in collaboration with the Museo Universidad de Navarra and Manconeduca, the school education program of the Mancomunidad de la Comarca de Pamplona. The initiative, which combines art and the environment, is inspired by the series Imágenes de chatarra and Imágenes de basura by the Brazilian artist Vik Muniz, which are currently on display at the Museum. The proposal is part of the 36th edition of the Cultural Week that Cuatrovientos celebrates every year.

Its objective is to raise awareness of the role that each person plays in caring for the environment and to highlight the bond that unites us to the Earth. To educate about this link, the center has focused on the possibilities that art presents in its interaction with social and environmental issues.

It is also an innovative initiative that is part of an international project of Strategic Partnerships for the Exchange of Good Practices financed by Erasmus+. It consists of training VET students in skills related to sustainability and climate change based on the concept of calculating and reducing the Carbon Footprint in the educational center and in the collaborating companies.

Specifically, the program consisted of an interpretation of the work Irma, The Bearer (2008), by the artist Vik Muniz, with the help of the atelierist Pastora Olaya. To create the works, caps, coffee and reused salt have been used, so that the waste has become artistic material, inspired by the process followed by the artist himself.

Students enrolled in training courses at different educational levels, basic vocational training, intermediate and advanced levels corresponding to the professional families of computer science and communications, commerce and marketing, and administration and management, taught at the Cuatrovientos Integrated Center, participated in the performance of this interpretation.
