Photographs from the Museum's collection are exhibited at the Mapfre Foundation.
The exhibition "Contemporary Spain. Photography, painting and fashion" which can be visited until January 5, 2014 shows 23 photographs belonging to the collection of Museo Universidad de Navarra.
The exhibition presents a selection of photographs that cover the history of Spain over the last two centuries, from the invention of the daguerreotype to the bombardment of images with which we coexist today. The photographs and paintings relate the most relevant historical events of the 19th and 20th centuries.
In parallel, the exhibition traces the evolution of women's costumes throughout this period. Some thirty pieces highlight the harmony between the transformation of the female silhouette and the social changes undergone. As the discourse progresses through the 20th century, the narrative incorporates the advertising and television images that have become part of Spanish iconography.
