The degree in Design of the University of Navarra has been awarded the New European Bauhaus prize in the Interdisciplinary Educational Models category, in an international ceremony held in Brussels. The degree in Design is one of the four projects of the University of Navarra that were finalists in this call among 2,000 applications submitted.

The director of the University's School of Architecture, Carlos Naya, accepted the award and pointed out that this recognition "values the strategic decision we have made to train designers with a broad and general vision, oriented in their work towards a design that takes care of the environment and people. Professionals who can play a key role in the Europe of the 21st century, just as those who promoted the original Bauhaus did in the 20th century".

In addition to the degree in Design, the academic center has competed for these awards with three other projects in different categories: the University campus, the Master in Design and Environmental Management of Buildings and the Museo Universidad de Navarra

In this regard, Carlos Naya stressed the importance of having reached the final stage of these awards with four projects that are so different and so imbricated in the University's project. "This consolidates the line of work of the University of Navarra focused on students, on their integral development, attentive to the reality that surrounds us to train future professionals for the challenges we face as a global society and allows us to look to the future with the confidence of feeling supported by other European actors. This award also helps to reinforce in the institution the idea that the work begun so many years ago, and consolidated within the 2025 Strategy, is a long road that requires the perseverance and commitment of innovative, cross-cutting and creative work teams, open to collaboration to face the challenges of the future together.

The winning project will receive a prize of 30,000 euros and a communication package.

The awards ceremony was also attended by Pilar Lostao, Vice Rector for International Relations of the University of Navarra; Cristina Muñoz Corsini, Director of Campus Planning and Design; and Guillermo García del Barrio, Director of Education at Innovation Factory.

The University of Navarra is a European partner of the New European Bauhaus and acts at European level as such, together with the other partners, as well as an agent in the Navarra Bauhaus Lighthouse Region project, which is being implemented by the Government of Navarra and coordinated by Nasuvinsa.

The New European Bauhaus initiative is one of the major European efforts to promote a common and sustainable development, through the circular economy, the recovery of the founding principles of the European Bauhaus and its updating from the collaboration and know-how of the various public and private actors in Europe.
