The Museo Universidad de Navarra has been awarded the Prize for innovative and sustainable design for museum stores and cultural institutions, organized by the international congress CM Malaga Culture & Museums, held on June 17 and 18 in the Andalusian city. This is a call that seeks to value the talent of designers, illustrators and craftsmen who make products for these stores, as well as their ability to attract new audiences.
MUN has achieved recognition with the proposal "A_Tempo". It is a small box that translates the colors of the paintings into musical notes. Its author is Elena Brotons, a former student of the Degree in Design at the University of Navarra. The student started this idea during the courses Taller de Diseño VI and Laboratorio de Creación, with the help of professors from the School of Architecture Santos Bregaña, María Villanueva, Amaia Zuazua and María Duro, and in collaboration with the MUN; and later, she culminated it in her final degree project. I wanted to enhance the viewer's aesthetic experience, offering a new perspective on art," she explains. The main objective I had in mind was to design new forms of creation and enjoyment, generating bridges of communication between the spectator and the work, beyond the traditional ways of interacting with it. I intended to create a simple system, both in its understanding and its practical application, so that any user can expand his or her interpretation and have a more impactful experience.
María Villanueva, tutor of the TFG, points out the importance of a university project taking shape "in the real world", in this case, through the Museo Universidad de Navarra store. This "demonstrates the students' ability to convert theoretical concepts into practical and tangible solutions," she says. And he says that the materialization of these processes "underlines the importance of education as an engine of innovation and development, allowing students to actively contribute to their field of study and to the community at large".
With synergies like this, the MUN is positioned as a reference center at the service of education, as a space for creation thanks to which the ideas of university students do not remain in the classroom, but have projection to the professional field.
The Congress CM Málaga Culture & Museums. International Tech Forums has brought together organizations and professionals from the world of art, technology and culture over two days of meetings and presentations with leading names in the sector internationally. It has also included the exhibition of innovative proposals in the field of museums and cutting-edge technology, as well as the award of this contest.
