Yaiza Pinillos and Olga Pericet conclude their artist-in-residence program at the MUN with the world premiere of the show “Resonancias”
The performance, part of the “ Museo en Danza ” series, is the result of an artistic residency in the Performing Arts program at the MUN, in collaboration with faculty and students from the Bachelor’s Degree in Design program at the University of Navarra’s School of Architecture
The project is inspired by the exhibition “Live and Direct: Color, Perception, and Experience,” and will be presented in the MUN’s exhibition halls this Friday and Saturday, with two performances daily at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Tickets are available for 25 euros.

Museo Universidad de Navarra will present the world premiere of *Resonancias*, a collective site-specific performance created by costume designer and researcher Yaiza Pinillos; dancer, choreographer, and 2018 National Dance Prize winner Olga Pericet—who also won the Giraldillo Award for Dance at the 24th Seville Flamenco Biennial in 2026—along with singer and bassist Pastora Andrades. The production, the result of the Museum’s Performing Arts artist-in-residence program in collaboration with the Design Degree program at the University of Navarra’s School of Architecture, will take place in the exhibition halls of Live and Direct: Color, Perception, and Experience, with two daily performances at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
"Resonancias" fosters a dialogue between costume design, dance, sound, and movement, and explores how these elements transform in relation to space and perception. In this context, the works in the exhibition and the viewer’s experience are part of the unfolding theatrical experience, in which each element resonates with the others.
The origins of this applied research project lie in a meeting between the Museum’s artistic director of the Performing Arts, Teresa Lasheras, and Yaiza Pinillos. Based on research into the possibility of creating costumes using unconventional materials, geometric shapes, and pleats, the idea arose to adapt a stage production for exhibition spaces. And the exhibition “Live and Direct: Color, Perception, and Experience” provided the ideal context for transforming this research into a site-specific performance. Perception thus constitutes one of the central themes of the residency, which explores how movement, sound, and light influence perception.
SYNERGY BETWEEN ACADEMIC RESEARCH AND PERFORMING ARTS
This research on folds, texture, and materials led to a collaboration between faculty members (Professors María Villanueva, Maider Istúriz, and Alanda Pascual) and design students at the University of Navarra’s School of Architecture. During the 2025–2026 academic year, the theoretical foundations were established, and various costume proposals were developed. One of these proposals was selected for further development and subsequent incorporation into the performance, which has allowed the collaboration to continue during the 2026–2027 academic year. According to Yaiza Pinillos, the “ Museo Universidad de Navarra ” has provided the perfect ecosystem for developing this project, as it brings together the university, artistic creation, and a unique exhibition space. “The exhibition has been a very rich space for creating costumes that will engage with the artworks and the reflection surrounding them,” she explains. The designer also highlights the opportunity to develop a collective creation: “This is a very special project because we were able to bring together the students’ creative abilities to enhance the staging.”
COSTUMES AS THE ARCHITECTURE OF MOVEMENT
In *Resonancias*, the costumes transcend their usual function and become a central element of the creative process. Based on structures inspired by origami and kirigami techniques, the designed elements are transformed into objects that interact with the body, influence movement, and open up new expressive possibilities. The costumes also incorporate crocheted garments created by volunteers who participated in the creative process.
Flamenco dancer and choreographer Olga Pericet, winner of the 2018 National Dance Award, has become a key creative force in this project, as she has found in this performance an inspiration to expand her stage language and explore new physical possibilities. “This project has given me the opportunity to delve into a space where flamenco can expand.” The objects that make up the costumes, as well as the materials and folds, shape the movement. “These are objects that sometimes prevent you from moving certain parts of your body, but they make you explore others and imagine how to interact with that object,” she notes. The interaction between the body and the costumes becomes an essential part of the stage concept. In addition, singer and bassist Pastora Andrades participates in this interaction with the costumes and adds that the music also engages with the objects, colors, and light. Through music, she seeks to contribute soundscapes to the space and build a synergy between the visual and the auditory—“like listening to a painting, looking at a sound,” she adds. In her production, she combines different musical styles with the expressive power of flamenco and Curro Ureba’s soundscape design.
The result of this collaborative creation is a beautiful stage production that explores the relationships between costumes, dance, music, and perception in the Museum’s exhibition halls. As Yaiza Pinillos explains, “It’s a creation in which every element is essential; everything resonates.”
