The Museo Universidad de Navarra celebrates the final of the new edition of La Voz de tu Facultad online this Friday, May 29, at 9:30 pm. The coronavirus forced the center to cancel the face-to-face gala scheduled at the Theater, but the show will reach homes thanks to the commitment of the participants, Jana Producciones and the Museum. The public will be able to enjoy it free of charge through a web page created for the occasion. In addition, viewers will be able to vote for their winners from their cell phones.

The contest, now in its fourth edition, is open to all students at the University of Navarra and seeks to discover the best voice on campus. Students present themselves through a video and those chosen go on to the semifinal of their faculty, which is celebrated with a concert in which the public votes for their finalist. In total, 11 finalists from 9 faculties have reached the grand final. They are students from Architecture, Education and Psychology, Tecnun, Economics, Communication, Nursing, Philosophy and Arts, Medicine and Law.

Carlos Bernar, head of the Museum's Campus Creativo Carlos Bernar, head of the Museum's area, explains how the move to the online gala went: "We were reluctant that it would not be possible to hold the final. The finalists did very well and were very excited, so we decided to hold it online. We immediately saw that it was a viable solution, and we presented the idea to them, which they welcomed with great enthusiasm, since they assumed that it would not be possible to hold the final".

The main challenge has been, precisely, to make the leap to the online format. "La Voz is designed to be a live show and we have had to adapt some issues to the audiovisual medium. We don't have the means of a television station, nor do we want the final to become a television show. We needed another format, also attractive, which I think we have achieved," he says.

ONLINE' ACADEMY

Another challenge has been to continue with the training of the finalists during the confinement. Usually, the group traveled to Madrid before the final and received an intensive course by the Jana Producciones team to prepare for the final. Its director, Javier Muñoz, recognizes that "the online world in performing arts training limits many possibilities, but with imagination we always come up with new and very interesting experiences. I note with enthusiasm that the students have advanced quickly, with a lot of enthusiasm and enthusiasm to contribute their bit and encourage anyone who wants to participate in this special final. They are going to defend eleven great songs of all times. It's going to be very exciting.

To prepare for this, in addition to the three face-to-face sessions they received at the Museum before the confinement, and the search for and choice of the topic they will defend, online training was added. Each candidate received three training sessions on vocal technique and repertoire. "We also asked them for presentations, photos, audios with their voices.... In the final the presenter, Jacobo Muñoz, will be present, and he will be connecting with each one so that they can present their own song from home".

In addition, he says that "a single has been recorded for each contestant with the same professional musicians that formed the band of the concert. It's like making eleven releases by eleven artists. Each musician has recorded at home, as a recording studio, his part of the song. We are training the students online, both in voice technique and in the preparation of the song they are performing. They have recorded their voice and we have mixed it with the other instruments and backing vocals. And, on that basis, the candidates record a live video clip, which will be what we broadcast in the final".

Thus, the expectations are very good. "We are very excited about this new experience. It has the advantage that there is no capacity limit as it is broadcasted on YouTube, so anyone who wants to can watch it, and there is no cost for the viewer. I think it will be a success in terms of viewing and the quality of the voices is assured," Bernar emphasizes.

Jana agrees that "it is another way of contest-show, although very different from the live show, it is just as powerful. We are also thrilled that it can be seen by many more people and all over the world. This is the most surprising thing, that in times of confinement, the paradox of the world opening of the showtakes place".
