In 1992, the construction of the Lindoso reservoir (Portugal) flooded the villages of Aceredo and Buscalque (Ourense, Galicia) forever. Its inhabitants had heard about the project years before and decided to use their domestic cameras to start recording images of what would be swallowed by the water. The images, dating from the mid-1960s, are a valuable historical and ethnographic document filtered by the emotions and subjectivity that give domestic cinema a close, almost intimate character. César Souto and Luis Avilés build with these images a bridge between past time and present reality, a history that is projected, in multiple senses, beyond itself.
