Cómo hacer cosas con... The poem Pharsalia by Lucan
"To produce a perfect pearl the oyster needs some piece of matter, a grain of sand or a small splinter around which it can form itself. Without this solid nucleus, it can become a formless mass" (E. H. Gombrich).
Following the great historian of the 20th century, who compared the artist to an oyster, in the cycle "How to make things with..." we open to the public the process of composition of the "pearl", asking ourselves each time about the element or material that has served as a splinter.
In continuity with the line opened last year, focused on the search for heritage elements that survive in the heart of contemporary creation, in this new season we find, at the core of the artistic processes explored, other materials, such as Latin sources, documents and mathematics.

With Olga García, Antonio Ruz and Álvaro Sánchez-Ostiz

The pre-premiere at the MUN of Pharsalia, by Antonio Ruz, completes a process of teamwork that the choreographer has opened to the research community of the University of Navarra. Thus, the Latin poem by a 1st century Cordovan author has brought together philologists, archaeologists and philosophers with the work of dancers, designers, lighting designers... under the wise working methodology of Ruz, in a creative process that they will share with the public in this conversation.
This proposal of the cycle Cómo hacer cosas con... brings us a dialogue, surely exciting, between the artist and choreographer Antonio Ruz, the philology professor Álvaro Sánchez-Ostiz and Olga García, responsible for the lighting of the project.
