Homo Urbanus. A city-matographic odyssey - Exposure Time
Classroom 1
Free admission with prior withdrawal of invitation until full capacity is reached.
On the occasion of Manolo Laguillo's exhibition, the artists Bêka&Lemoine will share the process of their internationally awarded work Homo Urbanus in a Masterclass with the public.
Homo urbanus is materialized in a series of films that travel through ten cities.
While the series and films of the main platforms show us the same, decontextualized and homogeneous city all over the world, Bêka&Lemoine's project invites us to observe in detail the multiple forms and complex interactions that exist every day between people and their urban environments, different in each of the ten places on the planet (Seoul, Bogota, Naples, St. Petersburg, Rabat, Tokyo, Kyoto, Shanghai, Doha and Venice).
If the city, as Laguillo says "is the greatest creation of the human being", the videos allow us to perceive each of the different urban contexts as an experimental laboratory, local and unique, that responds to the same global challenge about how we can live together.
BIOGRAPHY
Described by the New York Times as "cult figures" in the world of European architectural art, video artists, filmmakers and producers Ila Bêka and Louise Lemoine have developed a new narrative form that breaks with the traditional way of representing contemporary architecture and brings to the forefront the daily lives of the people who inhabit it. Their work has been presented at the Venice Architecture Biennale, the Oslo Architecture Triennale and Performa New York, among other international events and festivals.
