Environment Encounter Exploration

This project is an invitation to the public to participate, to connect with art through the exploration of our closest and everyday environment. The exhibition is the result of the project chosen among the Master's Thesis of the II promotion of the Master's Degree in Curatorial Studies.

Curators: Equipo Sobremesa, formed by Renata Alvarez, Manuel Gamaza and María Angélica Moreno.

Ten artists are present in the exhibition: Daniela Acosta, Iñaki Chávarri, Olalla Gómez, Raúl Hevia, Antón Hurtado, Fernando Maselli, Ricardo Moreno, Kate McLean, Jessica Thompson and Ainize Txopitea. In the selection of works made for this exhibition, the authors reflect on the environment through aesthetic investigations, sensorial journeys and daily interactions.

His reflection stems from the confinement during the first months of the pandemic and how it affected our collective experience. The whole experience opened up a discussion about the importance of interaction with the environment, both physical and emotional. 

The lack of contact, the need to keep a safe distance, not being able to move beyond the essential and not being able to move freely around the city... has led to the desire to explore our usual spaces and places again. Entorno, Encuentro, Exploración invites to explore, to relearn, to make a journey from the particular to the universal, from the circumstantial to the emotional. A sensitive approach to urban landscapes, to those spaces through which we transit and in which we are. The exhibition incorporates proposals for workshops and lectures, on-site tours and online tours, as well as digital channels through which the public can participate with their perceptions to enrich the exhibition. The team of young curators proposes to the visitor to participate in the artistic experience of recovering and rediscovering the environment and exploring, perhaps from nostalgia or from a new sensoriality, everything that surrounds us.
